7.62 banned at Kingsbury ranges

#1 Post by kingburyshot »

My club forwards an email from landmarc informing us that 7.62 is now banned on Kingsbury ranges. Does anyone know anything about the background to this?

I know that Landmarc have a p1ss poor reputation in some circles (think G4S level of competance)

Banning one of THE main military rounds on a military range = wtfwtf kukkuk

It MAY be that some window-licking office based muppet has read the memo about high energy cartridges - had a major brainfart, been unable to get their dvt-sox off in order to do some sums and decided that 7.62 is one notch down on the energy level chart from thermo-nuclear devices

Has anyone actually seen something in writing from them about it? (giving reasons for 7.62 being banned)
Or phoned/e-mailed to ask for clarification?
...just an idea

Sounds very odd, I am not familiar with the Kingsbury range, does it have a limited danger area that could require a rethink on MV/MV? I assume 5,56x45 is still going to be acceptable?

Contact NRA immediately - Iain is off today but will see this later and not sure who should deal with it - probably Heather? Send them all info you have as this is very bad

Chris Webb would have been the man as Regional Manager but someone made him redundant!

Love

Following is the email I sent to the East & West Midlands regional reps:

The following notice is about to go up on our website. Club secretary’s in your area may already have had the notification from Landmarc. We have been unable to get any further information at this time but Iain is on the case.

Kingsbury Range

For safety reasons and pending possible compliance work on the range, please note that the use of 7.62/308 calibre and greater have been suspended. This is expected to remain in place for some months. Further information will be distributed as we get it.

Jamie, who'll be at Barton Road on Saturday, shoots at Kingsbury. Last time I spoke to him, which is only four weeks ago, Kingsbury was cleared for 338 Lapua use by civilians. Something must have seriously changed since then!

Thanks Heather.
The phrase some months at least suggests that they are going to sort out what ever problem they think they have. I wonder if the NRA could suggest to them that we could use Whittington Barracks range while they sort themselves out?

My club sec. sent me a message about this... its to do with work they're having done; its for a period of 4-6 months, so there will be no civi shooting on there in this time.

Email I received...
I have received an e mail from Landmarc saying that Kingsbury is closed to all civilians for the next 4 to 6 months. It is for alterations to the range. At the moment, they will not give any further information. They put Jim Salisbury’s number on it and that’s where I got this basic info from. The e mail says “7.62” but the secretary I spoke to said that this covers “equivalent” ammo as the range will be completely closed.
