Your rifle?
See PID pictures here: http://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8891

Rifle was one that came in, it wouldn't chamber a round. It was a Schmidt Rubin 1889. I suspect that the wrong calibre round was fired in it. Bottom half of the case was ejected and probably the neck went downrange with the bullet leaving the shoulder ring jammed in the chamber.

Came out easy enough with a bit of cerrosafe.

Chamber, throat and barrel spec out OK so the owner is lucky if ever he wants to put it on ticket and shoot it.

Yesterday evening getting ready for today's shoot, up early this morning and getting ready to go, car would not start. Dead battery. Thank goodness our neighbour helped us out and we were actually there just in time for sign in. Fantastic day at the Barton Road range. Range report to follow.

What do they use to shoot slugs? 20grams of #64 Sodium Chloride shot maybe?

a bit late I know, but Friday I went on my annual pilgrimage to WMS in Wales, as usual the Welsh weather tried to drown us with near Hurricane winds roaring up the valley and torrential rain at times in the morning :P however the variety of shooting angles and the fun of shooting at steel plates and hearing the clang after what seemed like ages really made up for the less than ideal weather, not a particularly cheap day, but well worth it for the novelty, and the chance to learn a lot about practical shooting. I took a .308 and the sink plunger tongueout and to be honest I had way more fun with the AUG as the wind was so strong that it was hard to hold the .308 on target and the recoil made it difficult to spot the fall of shot if you missed, the AUG went through ammo like it was free! and in the end the combined useage was in the region of 300 rounds! so if you are doing another .223 buy Dave I'm in for my limit :good: to give an idea of the wind, at 400yrds the .308's were using about 6MOA of wind and the .223's 12MOA! even then the AUG was hitting the 10" gong as often as missing and the gusts were making 1-2ft of windage variation at times!

Went shooting this morning to see if i could miss an A4 sized target with my pistol at 25mtrs and i didnt fail to deliver.Keep your expectations low and you wont be dissapointed.

Instead of using lard in the pistol i tried using my homemade patches instead...small pieces of an old sweatshirt. So instead of showering everyone nearby in molten pig fat i filled the range with the glorious smell of blackpowder and burnt cotton. They love me really. O:-)

Moved things around in my cave so I could fit in the new gun cabnet I was given.
It is rather nice, and holds five rifles.
