Slugs are section one. #4, #3, #2, #1, 0, 00, and 000 buck are not section one. 0000 buck is section one, but it is not produced as factory ammo anymore so not very relevant. 00 buck is the standard for anti-personnel use. In English sizes that's SSSG to LG (there is no English equivalent of #4, 00, or 0000). Section 2 ammunition is defined as ammunition containing 5 or more shot, none of which exceed 0.36" in diameter. All of the buckshot sizes apart from 0000 (obsolete as I said) meet this restriction. So yes, you can get rubber ball ammo on an SGC.Harrier1980 wrote:although I found this on fourten.net (very old site)
e.g. in the UK, Slug and Ball (Buckshot) loaded ammo is classed as 'Section 1' (Firearm) ammo and shotgun barrels must exceed 24".
Might be fun to play with but unless you're going to keep two guns for self-defence I wouldn't want it loaded. Even then... don't want to get mixed up. Better to keep a gun for killing and something else for not killing, like a baton.
Shotguns on both SGC and FAC can have barrels of 24" in length precisely ("not less than 24 inches in length,"), and if they are held on a FAC and are not semi-auto or pump action they can have a barrel of any length provided it is not less than 12" - overall length must not be less than 24" though. So, of these three, the middle is legal here (on a FAC) because it has a 12" barrel and is 24" in overall length. The bottom one is too short so falls fall of the handgun ban, and the top is a pump gun so it falls foul of the 'assault shotgun' ban (24" barrel minimum) even though it is clear of the handgun ban (12" barrel and 24" overall length minimum).

Lever actions of this length are also fine, as are revolver guns I believe (you'd have to pin the stock open). Now who do I speak to about importing a Street Sweeper?
