Just stick with what you know....

#1 Post by Sim G »

I'm not known for my fashion sense, but every now and again fall a little foul of what is in vogue. About 15 years ago I got rid of my Remington 1100 and my 870 to get a Benelli inertia operated gun. Loved it. Even got a second Benelli for clays....

But, fell foul of fashion and got rid of the Benelli s1 gun in favour of a Mossberg 930. I then remembered why I got rid of the Remy 1100 in the first place! I prefer the inertia system in a semi. But, when examining what I want in a "Practical" gun, I found myself going back to a Remy 870! My original I'd had for 20 years. It started life as a 20" slug gun, with wooden furniture!

So speaking with saddler, we did some horse trading for a s1 870. He Duracoated the barrel and reciever and I got it from him a month or so ago.

It had a 28" barrel and appalling furniture, but I planned to replace both anyway, so not a worry. I'm looking for a Hogue Stock set in green, but it's becoming problematic to find. But anyway, got a 24" barrel and swapped the furniture for a Blackhawk Knoxx set.

So here's the "Halfway House" 870 so far. I quite like it, but it will change again, once more parts materialise...

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Sez him!

Hogue stock set already located, but presently still abroad....though for now we're "making do" as the set I found is plain black & she wants OD Green; one that flavour will appear in due course.

May even get a similar set for my 870 20-ga.
It'll be purely a slug gun (once the mold arrives).

:p I'm looking to turn partially back to the darkside and do a pump build. I've previously had a Supernova but it just wasn't getting used. I'm thinking an S2 (so other people can use it too to make sure it gets used) 870 with the Magpul MOE pump and SGA stock, pure filth!

I have had a hankering for a S1 Pump for a while although it would need to be something a bit more conservative, maybe a Mossie 500 with heat shield and open sights in Drab Olive :)
