It wasn't that very long ago that certain forces wanted every spplicant to have a medical examination and be certified as fit to hold a fac by the GP. The GP's through the BMA resisted this and the new guidance is as a result.

I would suggest that you all go back and carefully re-read the guidance, assuming your reading comprehension is greater than a 7 year old.

The main difference from previous enquiries made to your GP is now there's a marker on your file and and an obligation on the GP to report treatment of SPECIFIC MEDICAL CONDITIONS mentioned in the guidance. The cost of any medical examination for current fac holders falls on the police.

I don't about you but I don't want to be shooting alongside somebody whose mental capacity is severely impaired by their medical condition.

And why do official froms ask you to declare stuff they are to check on? Simple, if you don't declare stuff you should have, you have made a false declaration and you can be prosecuted. Which of course screws your application.

You woint because it will prevent people going to the doctor with SPECIFIC MEDICAL CONDITIONS mentioned in the guidance and getting the help they need if they think the doctor will be ringing the police to report them.
