Swiss straight pull rifles

!'m surprised to see hardly any mention of the Swiss straight pull rifles here, I know you can have them in the UK so why does nobody seem to post about them ? I would have thought owners would be falling over themselves to post about how fantastic they are, cause they really are top quality super accurate rifles.

Yes I know they can look a bit sad sometimes but they are easy to restore, and the bores are virtually allways like new so what am I missing ?

Here's a K31 I recently gave a face lift. It only took a weekend to do, I'm pleased with the result...

This was the stock before I went to work on it. I just could not live with it.

It looks very crisp, did you blue the metalwork again?

SR's are over here and held in very high esteem by those that shoot them, given the superb accuracy some of them display I am not surprised.

I picked mine up in late november (only managed to get 15 or so rounds through it so far unfortunately )
But love the guns
Currently working on a no gunsmithing chassis system for mine as a research project for part of my engineering course

Plenty of posts about them on here. We love 'em ! We're thinking of getting one in 7.92x57 calibre - there's a place in Germany converts them.

what is the point of that over the original calibre ? I mean, I can stretch & understand the Germans wanting to use their "national" calibre but what benefit for a UK shooter ?

Did you steam out the dings in the stock and what bluing process did you use?

Here is a pic of my '55 vintage K31, not as good looking as yours but very accurate all the same.

Yes I steamed the stock and sanded it down, some of the dinges were deep, but not half as deep after I had given it a bath.

I used blue wonder, I just went over what was already there. It's completely different than anything I have used before, they claim it to wear as well as factory hot blue and I believe them. It makes the workshop smell like a hospital.

What did you do to bring the stock back to new condition?

Nothing magical, just soaked it, then sanded, then stained, the gave it about eight coats of true oil, then went over it with fine wire wool to get rid of the shine. I will post more pics, I have loads.
