Fair enough. :)I agree but thats a whole different discussion / can of worms for another day
Re: Israel: Giving its people a chance.
Not that i am aware of, largest caliber 9 mm FMJ. Probably because they didn't want terrorist apologists (sinn fein) shouting foul when one of their buddies were shot with expanding ammo.breacher wrote:Why ? Jeff Cooper once said, " the first rule about winning a gun fight is...have a gun"
Since most of us are not in sunny Turkey or Nevada , I suggest we start practising attacking knife wielding Jihadists with our hand bags...stock up with extra heavy tampon supplies to give weight to the swing AND if he pulls a gun and shoots you, they can be inserted into the wounds to stop bleeding.
On a slightly more contentious note....why is it acceptable for a British jew (14 yr old daughter going to do national service when she is old enough in Israel) to go and fight in their war against the bad people but not for a British moslem to go and fight in Syria against bad people (Assad)??
Obviously ISIS is a lot nastier than IDF, but not all moslems are heading for ISIS although they may end up there. Is this not double standards?
I remember hearing in the news during the last big Israeli action in the Gaza strip, about a " British Israeli soldier" being kidnapped. Turned out that the poor lad was killed in action and didnt make it back instead of snatched. But, at the time I was incensed , is he British or Israeli...if he is in their army, I would say he is Israeli and should stay there, just like people going to Syria should stay there if they fight for someone else. Of course if they fight against British troops then they should be dispatched with extreme prejudice.

Hi Gazoo,
Not contentious at all....the 14 year British (I'd say Welsh!
) Jewess is also a dual national Israeli and like dual nationals from other countries who have national service, she'll be sent a conscription letter when she's about 17. Israeli law allows for non-resident dual citizens to legally refuse their conscription (there are certain rules around this) but my eldest sproglet has decided in her infinite 14 year old wisdom that she wants to serve. This may or may not change in the next 3 years when 'theory becomes reality' but we'll see!
As for the question about Muslims going to fight.....to be honest, not my concern, but I'd guess most of them aren't citizens of the counties they are heading to and the organisations they plan on joining aren't the lawful military forces of a recognised nation...
Edit: just read your post again; as far as people fighting in other countries legitimate armies....that's been going on for centuries all around the world....Swiss in the Vatican, Nepalese in the Gurkhas, anyone who can make the grade in the French foreign legion, God knows who in the US army!!
BTW: I agree that anyone who fights against the UK should stay where they are and not come home. I believe the UK and Israeli governments might not be the best of mates, but going to war is probably not going to happen
. As an aside, I was asked a similar question recently when a prospective employer turned me down saying my SC would never get transferred into a DV due to having dual nationality family
Cheers
David

David, what does that SC into DV mean mate?
Also, not having a go personally, just picked up on that as a bit of an anomaly in the way we look at things. I am aware that people fight in other peoples wars all the time , and did not want to widen the discussion by bringing in the likes of the international brigade in Spain etc. I just thought that there is such a gulf in the way we look at things. FYI , I am NOT a fan of Israel (who were terrorists in the day , killing British troops) I am NOT a fan of ISIS or their faith in general as I have worked and lived with them (not isis of course) and see no room for compromise with anyone else. Also I find their views archaic and demeening to women but that is another debate.
What happens when Wales gets independance, will the kids have triple nationality....could get confusing

Re: Israel: Giving its people a chance.
So are you saying Assad is a BAD person...I would suggest the bad people are actuially the western backed terrorists fighting a proxy war to oust Assad, but that's off topic. Anyway, I'd prefer Assad to the clusterorgy that is Iraq and Libya which are run by armed militias and terrorists. On a slightly more contentious note....why is it acceptable for a British jew (14 yr old daughter going to do national service when she is old enough in Israel) to go and fight in their war against the bad people but not for a British moslem to go and fight in Syria against bad people (Assad)??
Breacher: Where I am there is a lot of ignoance and superstition about guns. Glocks were banned "because they were invisible" - even police could not have them but I think that has been changed now.. "Only assassins have sound moderators on rifles"...

Yes I do think Assad and his daddy were bad people and Madass Hussain as well as Gadaffi duck...but it was better for stability while they kept a strangle hold on those countries. If Reagan hadn't bombed the crap out of Gadaffi, he would still be organising bombs on planes and training IRA. If Bush (the one that can read without moving his lips) had not attacked Iraq, they would have moved from country to country in search of regional domination and flat screen TVs. Was anything we have done perfect NO, was anything gonna be perfect if we did nowt NO
Lose lose situation. Just try and keep brit deaths to a minimum.

Exactly. THEIR life may not be perfect to us but we have NO RIGHT in forcing regime change to install puppet governments. "Democracy" as we think we have is NOT compatible with a law and country controlled by religion. Like it or not, it NEEDS strong hands on the rudder with these people. Liberating Libya into the hands of a multitude of terrorists and war lords is a prime example of stupid personnified.
How much of ALL those troubles (and that includes the IRA funding) are the work of the CIA one wonders?

Six months ago, I was sat opposite a rather attractive lady of Israeli origin ... She was, very
.....it was a very distracting 3-4 months at work...... pity she was attached

She was attached ? Don't be such a prude... I 'd say that if that picture was taken on your desk, I think she might have actually liked you as well ...
