The K31 shoots cast boolits very well and is no harder than any other gun to get to shoot cast, but because of the short freebore the bullet needs to be made to fit it. This limits the bullet/mould selection, fortunately NOE make a fine mould with a specific K31 design that was based on the chamber slugs of dozens of K31s.

as i don't cast atm, would i be better going for the 96/11 then? (whilst finding someone to sell me boolits that fit) found one for sale around £400 although i have no idea if stock is current.

or do i just pick up a k31 and shoot FMJ out of it?

The 1911 is more difficult to scope, the K31 will take a side mounted scope or a scout mounted scope...I have been using a K31 side mount for 2+ years, just managed to fettle an "ANT supplies" Moisin Nagant scout base (£10) onto my k31.....I await a pistol scope to see how it goes.
The only scope mount I have seen for the 1911 is a Swiss products job in the USA...looks a little cumbersome. For the price I would go for the K31, a target rifle in the guise of a military rifle. The NOE mould 190gn cast works very well in the k31 and there is one supplier (on this forum) who casts them.

I have received a message from bradaz 11 but I am apparently not permitted to reply to it! Seems daft....however...the NOE mould bullet is available from Rog, on this forum...shoots very well in my k31. I have never come across a K31 which did not shoot well...ignore the rough condition of the stocks...you can tidy them up as you wish. Most 30 cal cast bullets can be shot in the k31, but flat nose bullets will not feed from the mag in my experience.

Misunderstanding....I did not know that I could receive messages, but not reply to them! I assumed that I could neither send or receive messages. I would not like those who send me messages to think I was ignoring them. That is only courtesy.

Yeah - Dromia - and possibly the nearest to you as well!

I see you are going to have to have a trip out in the Micra of Doom down the A68 to Gateshead one day...
Hi Saddler
I've emailed you and left a message on your answer machine.
Cheers
