iirc it was one of a series of photos taken in a gun market and the guy was "trying it for size".One of the accompanying photos showed half a dozen DHsKs' for sale in the same market.Charlotte the flyer wrote:Does he know that it's supposed to be a magazine fed weapon or does he just single feed them?

Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank.....give a man a bank and he can rob the world!.
More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!

It's not difficult to work out considering Prvi Partizan make 7.62x33mm Kurtz which is presumably also shipped as "Tractor Parts" down the Adriatic and along the Med.huntervixen wrote:love to know were they are getting the 7.92 Kurtz from!

I wonder what these guys would say if you told them that these things sell for $35k+ in the USA.......froggy wrote:Good idea... Mr. FH.18 could illegally cross the Med & apply for "war torn country"refugee status ?
After all, the above user of his ST-44 brother is probably on the back of a lorry on his way to London to claim his refugee status as we speak , to meet his well integrated brother that got a job at Heathrow thanks to his ingenious skills...
Re: still in service...
They only retail for that as no new full autos have been allowed to be registered under the NFA in the US since 1986. If it wasn't there STG-44's would not retail for that, nor would a Mac 10 retail $5000 plus.GeeRam wrote:I wonder what these guys would say if you told them that these things sell for $35k+ in the USA.......froggy wrote:Good idea... Yes, I know why, I was just wondering what their reaction would be if you told them how much the thing they probably just see as an old weapon that they probably are just greatful to have access to, would be worth what to some of them would be an astonishing amount of money in the USA (not of course that they could sell it there of course)Sixshot6 wrote: They only retail for that as no new full autos have been allowed to be registered under the NFA in the US since 1986. Surprised that some yanks haven't tried to smuggle a few in though somehow and stash them away to bring out once in a while to sell as 'found in a loft' left over war trophies.

That wouldn't work due to the NFA, though you could get it in bits, destroy the old receiver, build a new one and have a "new" semi-auto STG 44.GeeRam wrote:Yes, I know why, I was just wondering what their reaction would be if you told them how much the thing they probably just see as an old weapon that they probably are just greatful to have access to, would be worth what to some of them would be an astonishing amount of money in the USA (not of course that they could sell it there of course)Sixshot6 wrote: They only retail for that as no new full autos have been allowed to be registered under the NFA in the US since 1986. Saw that a deact STG-44 sold at auction yesterday for £4700 (inc commission). Other more ordinary stuff was making crazy prices too!

Re: still in service...
Still very valuable & desirable but I think they might be post war assembled specimens
Re: still in service...
Is there not a company that makes new Stg44's in semi mode and where PaulR got his straight pull version from?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I do seem to recall so, the company even offered a straight pull on the english version of their website. Can't remember who did, or if they're still around Sim. How would you go about ammo? From what I can gather one of the few places that made commerical 7.92x33 was a syrian plant and I believe Privi makes it too.Sim G wrote:Is there not a company that makes new Stg44's in semi mode and where PaulR got his straight pull version from?
Yep they do

Or cut standard 7.92 in half and handload? I'm guessing you're the person who'd do the latter? Or does a trip to Greggs come first?
