I believe they are no longer prohibited, but have very tight licensing attached to those in the category.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Surely 7.62x39 isn't a French military calibre?.

ASSAULT RIFLES considered as ARMES DE GUERRE need a FAC equivalent, and their major components are restricted as well. For same reasons,7.62x39, .223Rem and .50 BMG remain classified in the new law liberating all the other calibres.

Possession of rifles manually operated is allowed Under simple condituibs.

From what I understand, almost the whole of the parts confiscated were to be considered as restricted...at least to my quite indulgent appreciation!!!

Some details here, courtesy of BASC. They don't have to be French military calibre's, just in use by militaries somewhere it seems:

Just read your post , if you need further assistant I will be happy to help to the best I can.

As mentioned previously by RGC, according to French law, if a weapon is restricted, then its components & ammunitions are also restricted. Therefore you need the authorisation to possess the weapon in the 1st place to be legally able to purchase any of its components. In practice, pushing it to the extreme, only a licence holder for an AK47/AKM can legally buy a rusty old mag, a wooden hand-guard or even a shot 7,62x39 shell.

how bureaucratic, so even having your FAC on, wouldn't suffice? So much for Common area. What a joke. Speaking of which, since a standard AR mag can fit other calibers besides 223/5.56 that will not be restricted in France ala 300 blk, 222, 458 socom, 50 beowulf, etc, would the same rules apply there or could you just say, no its for 222 rem? I know colt and few companies made/make some 222 AR's for France (people that don't want to go to get all the paper for a 223) or Spain (not sure if 308 and 223 are considered the same as 5.56 and 7.62, might have changed maybe) and made some mags labelled 222 rem, but by all accounts they fit 223/5.56 just fine.

Small thread on the subject here https://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html ... 9&t=175716 Plus the original mags for my 223 vz58 mars say 223/222/5.56 (I know CSA makes a 222 rem version of their VZ's).

for sale 222 ar mags, worst part is the 223 mags are no different. It sounds to me like the police might be getting a bit heavy handed after Charlie Hebdo despite nothing illegal being done by you and yes it is a joke, just goes to show the whole thing is an oxymoron. Makes me wonder if had it gone through the post it would have been different though?
