Need some help from French native speaker
Hi if anyone can help pls-yesterday parcel was sized by French customs on continent at Eurotunnel.Inside some firearm parts-nothing illegal according to UK/EU law-rifle stock, muzzle breaks, magazines etc.Person who was helping me with this transfer(inside was a copy of my FAC,mobile nr) was kicked out from coach and after traumatic interrogation without any professional help was given A4 size document IN FRENCH,forced to sign it,told parts will be destroyed and handed over to British police.Only then things smoothed out and I was informed about the situation and could explain everything to the police(French did not informed them what was in the package...).They helped with interpretor and arranged safe coach boarding from Amsterdam to Victoria Station. Now I have this document in French and if somebody on this forum can translate it and explain what the heck is all about, send me PM pls and I will scan and send back to you.Only serious helpers pls-thnx,JB

Send Froggy a PM, I'm sure he'll translate it for you.

So why did the French confiscate it?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I was told all 7.62x39 & 5.56 or ANYTHING wood or metal for military rifles is big NO,no more comments...
Re: Need some help from French native speaker
Ah, that makes a little more sense now, considering generally, how permissive the French are regarding guns in general. From my very limited experience, stray into their "military caliber/component" laws, then be prepared! Recently the Douane and PAF have had some nice finds of firearms destined for the UK, discovered in France. Whoever was bringing the bits in was very lucky not getting locked up. A French Magistrate can, remand you to prison for up to a year before you're even charged.
And as for the form just being in French, that's because it's France. They do things a little different to us....

I thought the military caliber laws in France changed about two years back & they're now legal to own again...Sim G wrote:Ah, that makes a little more sense now, considering generally, how permissive the French are regarding guns in general.
