Hi Dellboy,

I've always found Essex to be pretty prompt about renewals and variations. Sounds like you've had a different experience. I've currently got one in at the moment and am hoping that I won't have another 17 weeks to wait! 2 - 3 weeks seems to be pretty typical in my experience.

Cheers,

Gaz

So if the cost of a grant is actually £67 how can they justify some of the figures being proposed as a cost rise?

Because some Muppet with no real facts starts throwing round numbers to scare people, then suggests his private little enterprise takes over the whole process!

Warwickshire can often turn around a variation or an addition in under a week ...

Variations in Lancashire normally around 7 - 10 days. My last renewal took 3 weeks.
The whole process is pretty painless really and the FEO is top notch (my experience anyway).

Sounds like they lost the paperwork or "it never arrived". Either way, that sucks. Did he sent the request in recorded delivery?

I sent my request in on Thursday 21st, got a call from my FEO on 28th who said that it shouldn't be an issue (I've asked for 1 additional 260 Rem rifle, but have sold 2 308s within the last couple of years and am trying to sell a third.) He saw my security setup at my last renewal recently, so decided that he didn't need to visit. I'll let you know when I get my ticket back.

Cheers,

Gaz
