£1000 .308 opinions wanted

I also enquired on a Savage and was told up to a year!
And it wasn't £1000 more like £3k!
I too would look for a Tikka as there are plenty of aftermarket gubbins for them.

my friend has a semi custom based on a howa in 243 and it's a cracker! you can get bottom metal to take the aics mags.

Ok, assuming I have around the 900 to 1000 max to spend on the rifle ( scope separate) what are your thoughts?

I want:

-a handy package, 20 inch barrell or less
-magazine fed, 5 & 10 rounders available
-not too heavy, 8 pounds or less

Now I know this is edging towards scout rifle specs, but I don't need it to be pure Cooper.
I want it to be able to be 1 moa out to 600m but equally usable for practical rifle.

I'm considering:
Howa 1500 with mag conversion, 20 inch fluted barrel
Weatherby vanguard 2 with the mag conversion an 20 inch
Ruger gunsite scout

Any opinions or other options?

I have this Remington 700 SPS Tactical for sale (just waiting for trigger fix :roll: ) which meets the brief and well within your price range.

Brand new action, one round fired. Set in second hand HS PSS LTR stock (good condition) with 3rd Eye Tactical AI mag conversion. Vortex viper HS scope (as pictured) also available. PM me if interested.

The mags, Sako TRG. Makes sense as they are part of the same group. My RPA Interceptor uses Sako TRG mags..... £180 pound each!!!! :cool2:

This is a great bit of kit , and you will find more stocks and mounting options for scopes and general goodies for it than any other rifle with the exception of the ruger 10-22 !
