Thing is when all is said and done, it's a military range for military training.

That's true Blu but just about all the ranges in the North East of England are MOD ranges I have no access to Bisley etc. So should I just give up Blu pack it in is that what you are saying just accept they are MOD ranges and walk away.
With out access to MOD ranges we would not have any were to shoot. There is no sign of the NRA doing any thing out side of Bisley to help us. So we are stuffed.

Any way I am packed up. Re loaded up. Kitted up ready for the off to morrow. This range is probably at the top of my list for a good day out. I am dreading to morrow I hope I have got it all wrong.

I'm not saying anything of the kind but if you want to go down that road old son, well you were the one grumbling a little while back about how shooting was becoming unaffordable for you. All I'm saying is that the MOD owns the ranges, their ranges, their rules. What you decide to do as a result of those rules is up to you.

We are in the same boat, without access to MOD ranges we have nowhere to shoot, unless we are ok about 100m or less which I am not or want to trek all the way to Bisley which I am not keen on. Bisley is depending on the time of day a 4-5 hour round trip for us or more, life is too short.

Access to MOD ranges is vital for the UK shooting community. Obviously I am hoping that Alpha1 has got it wrong.

I hope you are just being a bit mischievous Blu, further restrictions on access to MOD facilities would be a disaster for civilian full bore target shooting in the UK. There are not that many civilian ranges that cater for it, those that do are often sub 100yrds and require down loading. Civilian ranges that allow longer range shooting are extremely rare and they all have waiting lists for membership. There is no way they could cater for a huge influx of full bore shooters no longer able to access MOD facilities.

There has been attempts to set up a rival to Bisley in the Midlands and the North to cater for shooting needs further up the country but nothing has got off the ground. There is already a strong suspicion within UK shooting circles that the NRA only really cares about Bisley which is why I hope the rumour (and it is only that at the moment) that further restrictions on access to MOD range facilities is the result of negotiations by the NRA is not true. If that was the case I think there would be a VERY STRONG case to set up a separate and rival governing body for British rifle shooting.

And who owns the MOD? WE do!
Unless there are reasons of national security stopping us using the ranges we paid for then they can bo...cks! Those meant to serve this country really need to realise who actually serves who! And who pays for who! Just another symptom of the messed up values of this fair isle, giving to much power to the servants of the people.
Let's hope shooters can actually band together this time, even apathetic shooters like Alpha.

Why can't the NRA set up another site elsewhere?

I thought Landmarc now owned the MOD ranges - or do they just manage them, like a car park???

whatever, this sounds like a trumped up excuse to further screw the law abiding and legal British sports shooters - again!

So, why not club together and buy your own portable ET's...????

More chance of an ice cream factory opening on the surface of the sun.

NRA is 100% Bisley centric
No motivation to do otherwise or divert their gaze past the perimeter fence
