Use of electronic targetry on MOD ranges now banned

I have just received a email from my Club Secretary apparently he has been informed by Range staff that with immediate effect civilian shooting clubs are no longer allowed to use any electronic targets or activation systems on our local MOD ranges. He has spoken to the Range officer who has confirmed this. Apparently this was agreed between the NRA and MOD after they spent millions of our taxpayers money to install Nato standard target marking systems.The view is that we are not to be trusted to use the system in a competent none destructive manner. Well done the NRA for your support and consultation. This has ruined our 2014 shooting bookings.

Hmmm, if true doesn't this harken back to the bad old days when the NRA thought they were there to control their members rather than vice versa ?

Can you please find out if there is anything in writing about this from the MOD - I'm hoping it's just another local landmarc issue…

As far as I know (and this stuff would arrive first on my desk), my sight of this thread at home is the first the NRA know of this. Please check the facts and send me the correspondence.

I am out of the office till Tuesday, but will be monitoring this site, and will check PMs occasionally.
