Interesting... I guess pistols are an emotive subject for a variety of reasons, but it's a shame there isn't a sense of `for the greater good.`

From my experience it is across the board, shooters are people after all with all the contradictions and shortcomings that entails.

In many years of shooting I have formed the opinion that shooters are on the most part good people, but come along with various forms of 'baggage' and can be pains in the a**, have an I am alright jack mentality, as long as it is not my kind of shooting then cobblers to the rest, argumentative to the point of awkwardness as can be evidenced on this forum and others, helpful, kind even, but I wonder if other sportsmen/women in their respective hobbies have to put up with being vilified by the press/government. I don't think so. Does the shooting sports 'attract' a certain kind of mentality?
I sometimes do wonder! I also think that 'we' are our own worst enemy sometimes. Now maybe the argumentative type will respond to my post with some diatribe, so feel free.

The "MY DISCIPLINE IS BEST and the "why would you want one of these (whatever it is)" mantra will kill it all.

I missed out on the pistol shooting, but from what I understand Bisley had lots of pistol ranges including melville....now used for Gallery rifle and LBR/LBP.

Though I've never been a pistol shooter (apart from 'close inspection' of other peoples) I do fully sympathise...it's not like I don't hear it at my own clubs...

As I said, being realistic, we should start with .22 and take it from there...

Also the position I am working from with Firearms UK. Our petition, now at its 2nd draft exclusively targets .22 calibre pistols for sporting; both recreation and competition based use. We do however plan to involve as much of the wider shooting community as possible to garner the greatest possible degree of support.

Well you've found a good platform for promoting your organisation here - I haven't looked at every option and link on your site, but I'll be keeping an eye on it...

You do if you want to shoot fast PSG courses of fire.

To be honest though, I think that you should have to demonstrate active membership of a club that shoots PSG to have one.

I don't mind signing petitions all though I believe that pistol shooting in the Uk will never happen and you are wasting your time.
What concerns me more is remarks like the quote above. I have been doing this for quite a while now people like this guy worry me. It worries me that he holds a firearms certificate with that sort of attitude. I am so glad I am not a member of the same shooting club as him/her what ever.

Thank you; sadly there is still a mass of content yet to be developed and, or put up on the website... a lot goes on behind the scenes working on things which may not go public for weeks, if at all, etc and it all eats up time we can't put into the website or other more public works, always a balancing game. We are also on Facebook, only another 200 Likes to our next prize draw, which will begin when we hit 3k likes :-)
