nope, I got my LBR and Muzzle loading Remington 1858 no bother. I was expecting them to put up a fuss in my application but surprisingly they didn't.

Don't forget, officers that have an interest in shooting don't normally make it into firearms, so how is this stance likely to be viewed higher up the ladder?

Most top police officers are more politicians than anything else and like every other politician are interested in two things - themselves and power. Nothing (including truth) is likely to get in the way of that.

Not strictly true. The previous ACPO lead on firearms, Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Whiting, was a life long firearm and shotgun certificate holder and presented evidence to the Home Affairs Committee that actually suggested liberalising and repealing current legislation! Parliamentary business and an election put pay to his ideas being included in any HAC recommendations.

ACC Whiting has since retired and frankly, I cannot believe that neither the NRA or the BASC have not snapped him up as a consultant!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

I've often thought about using that, but remember you have had troops deployed on the streets in the last 20 (infact OP banner only finished in 2007) so a lot of people would just laugh off that point, even though its true. and that the IRA/UVF weren't in the business of getting firearms licences for there AK's, VZ58, AR18 etc.
