Uberti Cattleman Pyrodex / Triple Seven

I've got my heart set on Uberti Cattleman muzzle loader and I'm going to put in for a variation and include an extra cylinder. In theory, and with the assumed patience of my fellow Turning Targets shooters, I could occasionally shoot PP1 with it.

I have no experience of Black Powder but I'm thinking Pyrodex or Triple Seven would be a better option in this case. I've looked into nitro conversions, but I think the only modification I would want to make (purely on the basis of how the gun looks), is some replacement nipples that allows it to accept shotgun primers.

Can anyone school me on BP substitutes, do they produce less smoke, flash, mess etc? Are they even suitable for a Uberti Cattleman?

I stopped using BP substitutes, I have found Pyrodex to be even more hygroscopic than BP and I've had some pressure spiking with 777.

For me BP just works the best in firearms made for the stuff.

Dont believe the hype that black powder residue is a bitch to clean either-I give the bores and actions a good spray with WD40 on the range and they clean up really easily when I get home. The pistol goes in the ultrasonic cleaner (minus the grips) with some washing machine detergent and comes out like new every time.
