Getting more people shooting is always good but until there is a national unified mechanism utilising those voices into one single call then the numbers will get us nowhere.

Aye, but the greater numbers we have the more chance of it happening. #talentpool

3/4 of a million FAC and SGC holders in england and wales and it is still not happening.
Even if you doubled those numbers across the current mortified failed national bodies it would still be 1 1/2 million divided voices, all missing the point and still easily ignored by the law making politicians.

I understand exactly what Blu is saying but I believe one specific point in regards to the UK is that there are swathes of ordinary people who don't even think this is an issue. There are countless Brits who have never seen a real gun and there are droves that don't even know anyone who shoots. I think that would be completely different from Stateside.
And that is I feel the solution lies. On the whole, it's not an election issue for a lot of politicians, that's why we have to make it so, with individual politicians, thos that for whatever reason have come for us. And to be quite frank, we are not currently fighting to get handguns back, or have full bore semis again, our fight at present is purely to maintain the status quo of our current draconian laws!!!!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Airsofters actually lost their right to purchase replica firearms (toys) following the VCRA. Small in number (but growing very rapidly now), they got together and fought hard to get an exemption from the ban i.e. a repeal in all but name.
If fun-loving 'wahoos' can do it then so can so-called serious shooters. I guess firearms owners just don't care enough...

Ok why class Airsofter or paintballers as seperate? Surely a national governing body should encompass all shooting forms. Be it firearms, Air Airms, Paintball, Airsoft. Also surely we should be trying to foster closer relations with other disciplines and maybe have some crossover. Get airsofters paintballers etc into shooting maybe cough cough some shooters could enjoy and get involved in airsoft / paintball.
United we stand divided we fall.
Re: Labour: gun applicants must "prove suitability"
Not going to happen. Never going to get one organisation to represent everyone. There are even divides at club level. The team captain of the small section is vehement in his attack on anything outside of his narrow discipline. Anything "black" he claims, gives shooting a bad name....
If that's attitudes at club level, could you imagine national?! We already have a plethora of examples of this already.

I dare say Airsofters would largely welcome that. Not so sure shooters would though and therein lies the problem; shooters (as a whole) can't see future potential.

You say that but I support all forms of shooting (even paintball (which I loathe with a passion)) but I'd support it. Why wouldn't someone who's 'better placed' also do so? It can be done, there's just no faith that it can. The numbers game will produce results.Sim G wrote:Not going to happen. Never going to get one organisation to represent everyone.

I think its time some of the old blood stepped aside. They are not the future of the sport and their bias towards only supporting anything made mainly with wood is going to only add to the demise of shooting in the UK. I support all forms of shooting and archery (I happen to shoot a hoyt recurve bow) even those that are not my particular discipline.
