Oh hey guys I agree, hit any decent sized animal with a car and you're going to see damage. I remember heading down the M4 early one Sunday morning from Wales on my way back to Germany, I hit a small roe deer while travelling at 70MPH. End result was a brand new week old car written off. I was lucky the road was fairly quiet that morning or it could have been a lot worse, as it is I walked away without a scratch.Sim G wrote:meles meles wrote:Isn't it lucky we have evolved a skull thick enough to ward off anything short of a Vauxhall Vectra ?
Tore the front valance of a Skoda Octavia VRS at 95mph when hit...
All I remember was seeing a flash of brown fur going under the left front wheel, steering died and the car went from the middle lane across to the fast lane, hit the crash barrier and did a complete 360 across all three lanes and came to a stop on the hard shoulder facing the direction in which I was driving. Ever since then when driving in the early morning or at twilight/night in rural areas, I always take it easy.
Saying that though I've still had a few near misses where deer have jumped out on me a short distance to the front, these days I have a bumper guard on front of the truck to avoid damage to both the front of the truck and me.
