OK... Do you really think the position of the bullet at the top of the magazine (see pic above) would make that much of a difference?

Well as you can see the mags for the Ciener (type used in Spikes) present the round much higher than the M261, the Ciener bolt will skip straight over the M261 mag insert and not chamber a round.

Are you sure the BDM and Ciener mags don't sit lower in the mag well than the m261 mag insert?

Why is it that all .22 mags look like a plastic nightmare? Is it some unspoken agreement between manufacturers?

ALL??

Plastic?

...says who?

My SGC has the 25-rd mags.
Solid steel - possibly of enough mass to break toes if they get in the way & you happen to eject a mag without catching it

The different .22 conversion kits & dedicated uppers ALL use a mag design/feed angle unique to each design - as I am in the opposite quandry of not being able to find BDM V-22 magazines in the UK - just the M261 type and the others that they offer...

"...says who?" --> Says me based on everything I can find... Just to confirm then, your SGC 25 round steel mags are they .22 mags or do they have the .22 insert? Any chance of a couple of pics?

EDIT: Is it one of these?

or this one?
