.223 mag inserts

#1 Post by HALODIN »

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience of the .223 steel mag inserts like the M261 .22 conversion kits pictured below. I'd like to find something similar that's available in the UK, does anyone know of anything or any info on the web as how to convert your own? I know you can buy the CMMG or blackdog mags, but they look very plasticy. I don't understand why companies don't make a nice looking .22 mag...

Cheers,

Yes, I've got 4 of them for my CLE .22LR upper. I don't think they work with anything other than M261 type conversion or dedicated upper, ie CLE.

That was a fast reply.

What makes you think they wouldn't work with a Spikes Tactical ST-22? Did you buy them in the UK? Are they reliable?

I don't have a Spikes so I don't know but the BDM M261 Mags I have aren't the same as the CMMG or BDM mags I have for my BAR or CMMG conversions. I got the mags from CLE in Florida.

Seems like they still offer them. Is this the .223 mag insert you have or is this the later version?

When you say they're not the same, what's different about them?

Ignore my last question, I can see it isn't a .223 traditional mag insert now.
The Original Bob Sled was designed by Bob Hahin. Its purpose is to allow the loading and firing of single rounds during competition, at the benchrest, or out varmint shooting. See the AR Sleds section for more details on the OBS and the navigation links on the left for details on our other products.

I'd still like to find one to try. Can they be found in the UK do you know?
