Not sure they have their head office & large retail store in Exeter, another store in Wales and the one near me in Dorchester, they also have massive adverts many pages long in Gunmart and are main importers for quite a bit of stuff but are damned expensive for most stuff and point of sales/stock control is very behind the times, you never get a receipt for anything, so how they know what they have sold or need to order I don't know as nothing is recorded.Sim G wrote:What? The same Sportsmans Gun Centre that used to be above a Chinese in Paignton? They've got a little bit too big for their boots, haven't they.....?

Back to record keeping, ive got a record of every single round ive ever fired. Not including 22lr. Date, time, weather, distance, shot placement etc.
Same goes for my reloads.

Re: Entering Reloads on FAC
In the early days I used to keep all my spent primers, when it got to three sand-bags full I took them to the scrappy and got enought for a decent meal out for two!
Now a spreadsheet is much simpler and my FEO is welcome to look at them if he wants. He is a decent bloke and a shooter so I'm not anticipating any uneccesary hassle.

Re: Entering Reloads on FAC
As it is not a requirement to keep any records of how many you have reloaded and fired, then why bother?Watcher wrote:I wonder if, as an alternative to keeping records as discussed above, it would be simpler to keep receipts for reloading components like bullets, primers etc. In this way if there was any problem with the Police it would be possible to demonstrate that ammunition is made not bought. Indeed it might be prefereable as it demonstrates corroboration from the seller of these items. Hopefully things never come to that but one never knows....
Unless you want them for your own personal/statistical use to know how many rounds have gone through a particular barrel then fine (I do keep records of numbers shot through my barrel, but will not give that info to anyone).
As for keeping records or retaining receipts to show plod, then your just pandering to any FEO/Plod and I personally would not tell them anything that is not required, as the more they know the more info they will want, and it could suddenly become the 'norm' and more and more info is needed which is not what I want to happen. That is just my opinion. If you want to do it then fine.
Good shooting.

Totally agree with you Geordie B I have been questioned in the past on renewals and it has been mentioned that I should "keep a record" of handloads.
I won't volunteer anything I don't have to and as for producing receipts LUDICROUS. ARE YOU AN ACCOUNTANT BY ANY CHANCE?
I don't care what anyone says about their local FEO/Plod. These are people I have to deal with as a necessity and not through choice, they aren't social acquaintances.
As has been said previously you are not allowed to enter these details on your certificate and in my opinion if they are doing their job correctly they should be telling you that.
As for a spread sheet I suppose I could make one up today for a renewal tomorrow and it means nothing excel can produce anything you put into it, doesn't mean it's true.

Receipts...as an aside...going abroad.
Good idea to carry your receipt for the rifle you are taking in and out of a country, the customs sometimes ask about it to see if it matches your FAC.

Re: Entering Reloads on FAC
There is no law linking ownership to possession. I have carried guns I don't own through Customs on FACs both in my name and in the name of my club on several occassions. A receipt may indeed be useful if you are bringing in a new gun and want Customs to report it to the police (as Note C on your FAC requires). There is a danger that they may look up the UK price for tax purposes!
Re: Entering Reloads on FAC
I'm not advocating volunteering information but having it available if the need arose. If it isn't needed all well and good and I would always require the police to show me where the legislation requires it before giving any information. If I felt that the police had stepped over the mark I would report the matter to the NRA and get them to raise it at national level. On the other hand I'm relaxed about complying with a reasonable request from the police if it helps prevent a gun crime.forbie wrote:Totally agree with you Geordie B I have been questioned in the past on renewals and it has been mentioned that I should "keep a record" of handloads.
