Re: Ammo safe size
I have it in various places, spread out as it were. I used to use a wooden box back in the 80s but that was only for black powder/pyrodex.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

I've got my powders kept in a plastic fishing bait box (with a descant bag in it) in a secure (locked) location outside the house, and have had no problems with damp or temperature degrading the powder so far - I intend to continue to keep my primers in the top of one of my rifle cabinets (any views on this...?) - So now ammo, powder and primers are all secured and separate...maybe this is unnecessary, but I reckon I'm making things about as safe as they can be...ovenpaa wrote:Just a thought, I see you keep powder in the cabinet, I prefer to keep it under lock and key in a wooden box, does anyone else have a view on this?
Do you ever watch 'Grand Designs'? - My dream would be to design and have built a house with a separate gun room, loading area, cleaning area and storage...all uber-secure and fire proof.....and maybe a small underground 25m range tongueout

There should be no MAYBE about that and it should be several ranges with various distances... razz razzDougan wrote:

Re: Ammo safe size
I've heard that the deal with ammo is that it must "be stored in a lockable container"
To that end, do you think this would be suitable? Its a yellow COSHH cupboard

It looks like an ideal cabinet for loading materials, but I'd check with you local firearms department about ammo....
Re: Ammo safe size
Thanks for that. I decided the COSHH cab was no good for ammo but will keep it for materials as you say.Dougan wrote:It looks like an ideal cabinet for loading materials, but I'd check with you local firearms department about ammo....
So I've got a proper ammo cab now, all fitted and ready for the FEO to come and tell me to buy all the guns I want!
