When one or more of our club members does well at a prize meeting or international event, that's when we write the article.
The general public doesn't understand the importance of badges, a well written article can point out they are a prized trophy. A gold, silver, bronze medallion speaks the language across all sporting events.
Team shirts are also important to show that you are a club, and you are all members. The shirts on display in the local paper also make them recognisable to the public should you be wearing one to get fuel, or pick up something on the way to the range.
I wear my club shirt/ jacket to the kids hockey game on a Saturday morning, because we then head out to the range. I usually ended up fielding questions about rifle shooting from someone on the sidelines.
AC,
Does "The West Australian" still print shooting results? I vaguely remember seeing shooting results in the back pages years ago, in the other sports section.
Club shirts - great idea.
Christel,
This current dicussion seems to have overtaken the orginal purpose of the thread - which was to list local clubs which FB members shoot with. What do you think about having a separate listing for clubs - Region, contact details, displines etc? It could possibly include a list of FB members that shoot with those clubs, so any inquiries about the club/s could be PM'd to FB members of those clubs. Just a thought.
