Keep it clean - after 4/500 rounds it starts to have feed issues - with mine, it just needs the odd forward assist on the bolt to push it home (only happens when I have been trigger happy on the range and fired a whole brick in a day)
Mine has a Mod fitted now and will cycle subbies all day long with no issues.
All you need is a torch and a laser and you are half way there!! :)

At last, something that isn't an AR clone...Happy new rifle......ENJOY!

So, took my shiny new Sig to Bisley on Saturday morning and had quite a few feed problems. I shot about 350 rounds, with a brief clean about mid-way and had 27 feed issues (I kept the rounds that had been chewed up and counted them). Thinking about it, the feed issues did get worse towards the end of the session.MiLisCer wrote:Keep it clean - after 4/500 rounds it starts to have feed issues - with mine, it just needs the odd forward assist on the bolt to push it home (only happens when I have been trigger happy on the range and fired a whole brick in a day)

I'm new to .22LR semi-autos, so is it just a case of 'bedding in', or was it likely to be because it was just dirty? I gave it a proper clean when I got home, but haven't had a chance to try it out again yet.

Sorry to hear you had troubles. Those 522s are supposed to be ultra reliable? (if you believe the interweb reviews :shifty: )judders wrote:So, took my shiny new Sig to Bisley on Saturday morning and had quite a few feed problems. What ammo were you using? did you try a few different makes? Have heard that some prefer mini-mag or other HV until the action beds in.

First thing to establish is if you have the newer style of rod assembly in the bolt carrier.
Strip it down and look at the rod - is there a roll pin through one end or just 2 E clips - one at each end?
If you do not have the roll pin, this is the older version and needs to be changed - Garlands insist that all guns they have imported have been the new style - but mine was the old style!
They certainly prefer high velocity ammo to subs - but will handle subs if lubricated well before hand.

I know, that's partly why I bought it!Individual wrote:Sorry to hear you had troubles. Those 522s are supposed to be ultra reliable? (if you believe the interweb reviews :shifty: )
300 rounds of CCI Mini-mag and gave 50 rounds of Blaser a try too, just on the chance that it didn't like Mini-mag. I bought some SK Magazine to try in it next time.Individual wrote:What ammo were you using? did you try a few different makes? I'm at work at the moment, but I definitely remember seeing an e-clip on the end of the rod, so looks like I have the old-style assembly. I take it this is a known issue and I won't have to pay for a new bolt? Or is that wishful thinking? :roll:MiLisCer wrote:First thing to establish is if you have the newer style of rod assembly in the bolt carrier.

It will have an E-clip at one end and a roll pin at the other - it doesn't need a new bolt - just the rod assembly and this is a free part from Sig via Garlands(if it is a genuine import) - the area to keep clean is the area around the Breach face especially the corder that is formed by that annoying bit of metal sticking out from the breach face to engage the bolt carrier - crud builds up here and prevents the bolt closing fully.
I find that a decent grease as opposed to oil based lubricant works a treat on the bolt carrier assembly.

Should have said - if it has ONLY one E clip then it is the new type! - 2 E-clips=old type.

Ouch, that's a fair few feed issues, I've not had a single issue with my M & P 15-22 since getting it and put around 1,000 rounds through it in a couple of weeks, mostly cci mini mags and some rws target, I also run a bore snake through it every 250ish rounds. I did have a feed issue with one of the clubs rifles but that turned out to be due to worn out magazines, it even ran ok on Remington thunderbolts, I hope it sorts itself out for you quickly, as nothing more annoying than your pride and joy peeing you off, I have that problem with my shotgun at the moment that does double discharges when it gets hot, makes me not want to shoot it.judders wrote:
