gallery load for a K31

#1 Post by AL8 »

Has anybody got a gallery load I can start with? Also what is a good powder? I have an old ideal mold which I believe casts a .32 flat nose bullet, it weighs around 168 gr and has a flat base. I will only be shooting at 50 to 100 yards

My SR 96/11 likes 9g Unique over the Lyman 155g 311241 RN PB sized to .309, giving around 1,280 fps.

9 gr of Unique gives a nice group at 50 yards, but I was thinking of shooting ETR out to 300 yards. Would 9 gr be a bit to light?

That will be marginal at best to record on an ETR at 300, you will need around 1600 fps + for that distance.

You could work up the Unique load to get that velocity but personally I'd go for a slower powder like VV N120, this is my powder of choice for cast boolit shooting at higher velocities and the heavier boolits.

Increasing the velocity will test your boolit fit, alloy and lube.
