7.62 AR Straight-pull

#1 Post by Dangermouse »

Wayne at NWC is advertising a 7.62 AR Straight-pull on his home page.

There is in my opinion a massive market for these at the right price. Has anyone seen one in the raw yet? Or even better, put an order in? I think I read that he did not show at this years Phoenix, which was a shame, but chose to compete instead, which is good!

Southern Gun used to do a straight pull AR10 about 10 years ago, I'm sure....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Yep, knew they had......

Review here...... http://www.targetsportsmagazine.com/fea ... -to-black/

NWCP LMT does look a tad more Gucci than the SGC SSR10!

Its the LM7 from what they're advertising... I want one...

Some of my squaddie mates posted pictures of them shooting out in the desert, and since I saw it I wondered if it'd ever become available for civvy's!

BEST AR10 upper I saw fit onto a std AR15 lower = was still a semi auto, but with no magazine option = single shot only = UK legal

Interesting.

As far as I know, no one has yet managed to make a straight pull AR in 7.62 that doesn't have extraction problems. I think some of the experienced builders may have indeed tried it, because there would be a big market if it could be made to work. Never seen an SGC one in the field - so you have to ask why that is?

Manual straight pull ARs just don't have much leverage and the 7.62 is a lot of case to unstick from the chamber. Hence there are very few about (if any) and none in competitions...unless anyone know better.

But may be someone has solved the problem? Be great if they have.

The DSA SA58 FAL's have a really nice 7.62 chamber which will shoot any old milsurp with no extraction issues unlike the recent L1A1's which have a specific diet of specific .308

Armalon do / advertise a cam action straight pull for hard extraction. Haven't seen any but if it works would be the obvious choice for the 308 straight pulls.

Apparently they chew up the receiver, I don't have first hand experience though.

Does it have any specific advantage over the old and proven mechanical musket ? (FN FAL / SLR) ?
