We have progress

#1 Post by billgatese30 »

Well, we have lift off (sort of), and the checklist is slowly being completed

Cabinet is fixed in place (and the ammo cab is also fixed)
SGC is filled in and posted off with cheque and all photos etc
Local small bore club membership form filled in and fee's paid tonight - first shoot next week (so long as I can get out of work on time)
First full-bore shoot on Saturday via the new club membership above (again, work depending)

So, that just leaves a 6 month probationary to complete and then the FAC can be applied for. Hopefully the SGC should come through in short order too and I can start buying some toys fingerscrossed :shakeshout:

Good to hear it's all going well, the next 6 month will fly by then you'll just have to wait for your licence which is the bad bit.

Enjoy your shooting :good: bangbang

Indeed the six months will fly, shoot everything you can get your hands on to see what suits your style and what you like and make a note or two in a book after each shoot. Note the number of rounds, the distance, the rifle and calibre and your score if you can, then you can see your progress and show the record to your FEO when he calls round.

Ovenpaa, that is a damn fine idea. Think I'll do that, cheers :goodjob:

Dromia, for the 6 month delay I wasn't too bothered about the £40 saving, I'd rather at least hopefully get the SGC and get some clay bashing done before the snow and freezing rain hits, hopefully from what I have researched Northumbria's backlog isn't too bad (a few months tops) so I shouldn't have to wait too long. By the time my probation is up at the SB club, it will be December, which should then hopefully see my FAC arrive in time to do some shopping by the early spring and get out on some more full bore stuff come next summer. I'll probably tick the box for coterminous when I apply for FAC though, save on the cost come renewal time.

thanks guys (and girls) :good:

Quick update,

50 rounds of .223 (30 at 300 yards, 20 at 500 yards), 5-10 mph wind varying between head wind and right to left (or 12 to 3 o'clock if you prefer)

10 rounds of .308 at 300 yards, same conditions above.

Loved it

FLO rang the other day and my interview visit is booked for next Thursday, need to make sure I have some fresh milk in

Off to the small bore club tonight for the first night shooting there too then hopefully get out of work early/on time tomorrow for some clays

What makes me think this is going to get very expensive very quickly :cool2:

It can very rapidly become an expensive hobby however shooting and reloading are both a load of fun and far too good to be missed.
