Hi All. Has anyone heard of a stick on 'patch' that is placed on the bottom of the bullet that once fired shows up as a 'trace' to the target.
Cheers

I thought they would be between the skirting board ladders and the sky hooks which are opposite the long waits on the same row as the tartan paint any????
What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.

There was once an plan to use lasers to extend the range and improve the accuracy of artillery shells. The base of the shell was concave, and coated with a material that would transform to gas when hit with an intense burst of light. After the shell was launched, it was tracked using LIDAR (light based 'radar'). Once the trajectory of the projectile was established, a pulsed laser was used to turn the base coating to gas, reducing base drag (rather like base - bleed shells) and increasing range. If the shell was off course, the laser would selectively target different parts of the shell base, creating small impulsive jets of gas to bring it back on course.

It was a superb concept, but though there is no difference between theory and practice in theory, in practice there is...
