Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Wait until you can afford something decent and affordable such as a Meopta. Forget the Simmons and Burris as you will be dissapointed with both of them on a stalking rifle.

No offence mate, but i wouldn't wipe my arse with a simmons. Cheap tat that'll only let you down and prove useless in poor light conditions.

Burris aren't much better.

I recommend you pop over to the Mcleods of Tain website and browse the 2nd hand optics available. Alternately browse some of the forums classifieds sections. I recently picked up a mint Schmidt & Bender 10x40 for £350

the only problem is every time I look at their website all I see is expensive scopes :( albeit at good prices for what they are, I suspect this may be blowing the OP's budget .
