Buck Pak Lite Large Skinner

I have just received my Buck Pak Lite Large Skinner today, well I ordered the black one but was sent the stainless silver one instead... so I will get to see both as the replacement will be here tomorrow. :-P

Just to say I was very pleased with the knife. It is light, though retains the feel of a substantial and quality item. I found the balance point to be just in front of forefinger groove, total length 8 inches with a 3.5 inch blade. In the hand it feels handle heavy due to the balance being just afore the hand... Up turned for skinning it is advantageous as the handle falls into the hand, lifting the blade up.
I found a way of handling it so you can use the base to whack anything HARD (if you fish perhaps) or in my case everything from tent pegs to refitting my car wing mirrors (I know I am such a ludite!). :lol:
Its whole construction is 420HC stainless steel and no material handle to get mucked up.
My only reservations are the holes will need a good cleaning to ensure they are properly cleaned and the sheath, though very nice with the plastic insert it retains the usual Buck issue of the retaining flap being inline with the withdrawing blade... wait for the fraying. Why can they not change this silly niggle? Twenty years and counting. :roll:
It came as with all Buck Knives as sharp as a scalpel. It makes me wonder why I paid three times more for another Buck 15 years ago with similar blade length... knives for life, I suppose they owe me nothing. I have far too many knives military and survival (I think it is an obsession, I hope shared!).
If you see one, check them out and see what you think.
Prices are about £25 here in the UK. I will let you know what the black finish is like when I see it and update after it gets properly battered.
