They MIGHT be coming home.....again

#1 Post by walesdave »

Starting a new thread as the old one was getting a bit long and off track...I hope this one stays a bit more focused :good: Original post: viewtopic.php?t=41889

So had a busy few days:
  • Last Thursday solicitor sent Letter Before Action to Gwent Police. Claim is for disability discrimination & asking for a review of the decision to seize my guns (remember FAC hasn't been revoked)
  • Solicitor also asked the Equality and Human Rights Commmision if they would fund any legal action
  • EHRC have replied it looks like an 'interesting' case and will consider it and let us know
and then yesterday (Tuesday)
  • Call from Gwent FEO - new person I've never dealt with before
  • VERY reasonable and "Let's 'get things moving"
  • "If I can get medical update then come and chat to your wife and yourself we should be able to return your guns in two to three weeks"
  • But he did make the clear point he would only be making a recommendation to the licensing Inspector who would have the final decision
So, I'm inclined to keep the legal side in place in case things don't go as discussed yesterday and I'm also inclined to keep the disability claim going (if the EHRC fund it) as I believe Gwent have acted unlawfully and removed my legally held property for over 6 months; not sure yet, have to have a think about it.

I wanted to ask the FEO, but decided not to, if his involvement & positive outlook on resolving the issue was influenced by my LBA - but didn't want to bring it up in case he didn't yet know I'm going down the legal route.

Will update when I can

Sounds as though someone realises that are on thin and rapidly cracking ice ...

You are right to keep the legal side in place until you have the guns back. Even when they are returned, your soclitor will know the best way, but do not totally discontinue it but a "long term pause" as you never know what may happen in 3/6/12 months ... someone may get a bee in her bonnet again.

I guess your wife is on your side - make sure you are both giving te same details and maybe when you are speaking, she makes notes and vice versa.
