7.5x54 French load data
Hi there,
Does anybody here have load data for 7.5x54? I'm still using up factory stuff but will be reloading the cases.
I intend to use VV N140 behind 139gr .308 flat-based bullets, so any data using either of these would be really useful. All data welcomed, however.
Thanks,
J.

What does your handloading manual say along with the powder manufacturers data?
That should be your fist port of call so that you have a safety context before throwing yourself and others on the vagrancies of internet "recipes".
Without pressure tested data you will have no idea whether that which is touted on forums is safe or not.

I reload for the Mas36 I have never used a 139grain bullet. I normally use .308 155grain A max. I am not sure if they still do the Amax. I still have a couple of boxes. I use N140. The upside is it's a .308 bullet so lots of choices.

They don't, which is why I'm asking here.dromia wrote:What does your handloading manual say along with the powder manufacturers data?
I'm using 139gr bullets as I wanted to replicate the service load, however load data is limited. I'd be greatful for any powder quantity/muzzle velocity data you have.Alpha1 wrote:I reload for the Mas36 I have never used a 139grain bullet. I normally use .308 155grain A max. I checked my note book the last entry was in 2004 I have stuck with that recipe. I will look back over my notes and get back to you.

Some of the load development was done at Alma Barracks. I notice that I mentioned in my notes that Adam was also there (dromia)

OP you are using unsafe reloading practices and you should immediately review how you do things as from here you seem a danger to your self and others.
All reloading should be done from a point of pressure tested data, to do otherwise is taking a lottery ticket out on the safety of your loads.
Non pressure tested as a starting point for load development is irresponsible.

Re: 7.5x54 French load data
There is some published data available, apologies to dromia in advance but the Lee 2nd edition manual has a selection including some pressure data. It's available online with a quick search.
Hornady also have it in one of their manuals, I just can't seem to locate mine at the moment but maybe a member can confirm and help out?
A good selection of reloading manuals is a sound investment even for an experienced reloader. At our range a No4 and K98 let go at the from dubious handloading, thankfully no one was injured.
You will see different values in different manuals but check the components listed, different cases, primers, bullet manufacturers even batches of powder will affect pressure. The test beds vary too, some use pressure barrels some actual firearms, the loads published were safe using that exact combination in that scenario but they have been tested, asking for load data on the Internet is about as reliable as asking for legal advice.
