Hi all
I just bought myself a nice Marlin 336 in 30-30, and was going to put a Hawke 3-9 x 40 on it.
I had to change my mounts as the original weaver blocks I ordered are unavailable, so I went for a longer rail, which doesn't allow room for the objective bell of the scope.
Just wondering if anyone else has a scope on a Marlin or similar, and what you use? Looking for recommendations and ideas, but bear in mind that I'm not made of money, so Swarovski is not an option!
Regards etc
Steve

Why do you need a scope shoot it as it is.

If you had to look through my eyes instead of yours you'd want a scope too!Alpha1 wrote:Why do you need a scope shoot it as it is.

Fair enough.
I can only see out of one eye luckily it's my right eye I still shoot my underlever with iron sights. (With glasses)

Anything that will help you shoot to 100 yards? Simmons, Bushnell, 3-9×32.. or..you could get a shorter rail? Or possibly some higher rings to clear the existing rail? I have a Hawke 3-9×40 on my 336.. rail from Marlin spares.. I think. No problem with the rail.

Sounds about right, I was thinking of the Hawke 1-4x24 WA, or similar but I’ll go wit the 3-9x40 to start with I guess.
Is your 336 in 30/30? I looked at an 1895 in 45/70 when I was buying the 336, might have to add a variation for one of those too. This is getting ridiculous!
