Dies - Stupid Question

#1 Post by Mike357 »

This might seem daft, but how can I tell if a LEE die is a neck sizing or Full Length sizing die? Is it to do with the amount of th ecas ethat travels into the die?

:-P :-P

Well, with my LEE dies, the full length sizer has a nut at the top of the body that can only be turned with a wrench. The neck sizer, however, has a turn-knob that you can move with your hand.

Not sure if that'll help.

No markings on them and the reference numbers don't correspond to anything on the Lee web site.

However from Alpha1's post and further refernce back to the web site I have established that my Lee 303 die is indeed a Full Length sizing die. Am I right in thinking that once all brass has been thru the Enfield I can then just Neck Size only?

Yes, as long as it's used in the same rifle. Then just neck sizing gives you a cartridge that fits your rifle...and can improve the accuracy - I've just been neck sizing the PPV I was using in my SMLE, and they fit and shoot nicely.

Hope this is better than my previous contribution...
