Oberland 223 second hand no much risk?

I have been offered a nice Oberland german rifle M5 223 with the 16,75" barrel. Looks nice and the owner says he had fired only some 1000 rounds. Is it a solid gun and no much risk buying an used one?

It's an AR pattern rifle, all the parts are easily sourced. if you can inspect before buying look at the bolt, the face and lugs in particular, check it also has 3 gas rings. Check the upper where the cam pin can wear if over gassed or a higher round count than has been reported.

Well, it depends at what time, ie : Whenever Bojo opens his gob, Sterling fx crashes and the price goes up...

make sure you get one before October ...
Oberland are very popular among the French shooting fraternity as well built rifles. Some shooters in my French club reported that they are fussy when feed "cheap ammo" Chinese or Wolf.

Never ceases to amaze me how many shooters insist on a quality rifle and pay a big premium for that choice. Then stick a top quality scope on it, sometimes costing twice what the rifle cost. Scope rings - only the best will do - and lets lap them while we are at it. That stock needs replacing and lets bed the new one !

But then baulk at paying double per round for decent match ammo so they buy milsurp or even worse, Chinese crap.

Or bawl "How much ?" for a decent bipod before buying a Chinese made knock-off instead.

Rather like buying a Ferrari and sticking remoulded tyres on it and running it on the cheapest and lowest octane petrol.............
