USA Top Shot
Just arrived over here in Osprey for a few weeks R & R and enjoyed a cracking night's TV last night watching a TV show called Top Shot on the History Channel. Caught the tail end of series 2, where I started watching though was the test where they had to hit a 2 moa disc (my best estimate) at 1,000 yards with a Barret 50 BMG. Only one guy hit it first shot, a USAF Sniper so expected really, however he didn't win because the idea was to hit it the quickest and the rifle was s/a. He did it in 34 seconds but the winner was a pistol champion who did it in 25 seconds after about three shots. Everyone was about 6 feet left on their first shot, so elevation must have been set for them. The sniper was the only one who said he watched where everyone else was going. Anyhow after watching that I had to sit up and watch the rest which was highly entertaining and would be a scream if we could compete in something similar in the Uk, the whole comp is about all round shooting skill from pistols to shotguns to archery, all sorts of tricky layouts and courses of fire. Neat exploding targets that would be fun. Incidentally a Brit Platoon Commander won series 1 and the $100,000 prize! Series 3 starts this thursday and I can't wait!!!!

At long last I think I have managed to find it. It looks like great fun but somehow I doubt we will get to see the TV series over here.

Anyone fancy hosting something like this? Maybe not with the exploding target, and probably on a private range - I am sure the right people would be interested

I've been watching the odd episode of this show since 2010. If you can ignore the usual yank, back slapping drivel and each one screaming louder than the last that they are god's gift then some of the shots are worth watching.
It's had a some flak from the firearms communities as they show tries to make out that each challenge is new to the competitors, but some folks have come forward to admit that they trained them for some time before filming.
I watch it for free on the net
