Rifling twist calculator
Quick question, anyone got a riflling twist calculator table or program handy? My search has proved not so good....
My 7mm08 Rem has a twist of 1 in 8.5" and is great for heavy for caliber bullets like 168gns, but I want to try some 130's and think that the twist may be a little fast to stabalise them.
Any ideas or does anyone have the answer?

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Thanks chaps, it looks like 130s will be too light in a 1 in 8.5" twist.....

Re: Rifling twist calculator
Sim if thats the case then have you tried going up the way to 175s ?, sporting services have some SMKs in 7mm and it says specifically for 8.5 bbls

Re: Rifling twist calculator
Trouble is, I'd be struggling to make 2400fps with 175's...... In real terms, I'm just over that with the 168's. I like the idea of 130's at over 2900, so I may give some 150's a go.
But, if anyone has a few 130gn sierra matchkings kicking about for me to try......

I have a remmy model 7 in 7mm08. it has a 1 in 8.5 twist barrel. it's favourite is hornadys 139 gr interlock. i shoots sierra120s to about 2 inches at 100 yards. but the interlocks cloverleaf.
