A bit of DIY..........

#1 Post by breacher »

Decided to put together my own Titanium Suppressor.

Sourced the tubing. Machined up the end-caps and an internal bushing.

Made up some alloy baffles.

A couple of hours in the workshop and I have a full length integrally moderated AR .22lr - easily the lightest ( considering its length and diameter ) suppressor I have ever handled. Gave it a quick test fire with RWS subs and you can easily hear the clatter of the bolt above the sound of the shot.

I have enough material left over to do an end can suppressor for my .308 stalking rifle. Due to the larger bullet and the fact these are in effect home-made, I shall be proofing the fullbore one.

If I can manage to get my RFD, I reckon I can do these Titanium Suppressors cheaper than what is currently available.

Very nice looking rifle, love the machining on the end cap.

I almost built something like this some time back and even found an RFD happy to construct the 12” moderated barrel but cost and time stopped the project.

I’d love to have a go :)

In a word, nothing.

I can do them cheaper AND make a decent profit.

Normally I don't like AR type rifles, but fair play that one looks bloody good....

Neat! We're you going for the Honey Badger approach with this build?

What is the legality of making and fitting a supressor you made yourself.

It depends on whether it is integral or a seperate item.

The .308 I am about to build will be a muzzle mounted unit so will need a slot on my FAC. I have informed my FEO and will be guided by their reply. It will not be completed nor fitted til they advise.

A slot is not required for an integral suppressor.

Its a firearm with a built in suppressor. The DeLisle is a good example. As is the HK Mp5SD.

The suppressor shown is .22lr - its tube is permanently attached. The expansion chamber is rear of the muzzle. The baffles are removeable so can be cleaned / replaced as and when required. The crown can be accessed and cleaned.

This allows for more volume for a shorter overall length.
