17wsm slot small rifle choice

Just got my ticket back from essex police and one of my variation is for a 17wsm, now the rifle choice is very slim so obviously chances if anyone has a 17wsm they probably got a savage

So my question is how are people finding them particular the synthetic stock type as have seen them at £450 so a very keen price and not a big hit

I've managed to score my limit of 550 rounds of ammo allready at £10 per so bit of a bargain and a shame I can't hold more otherwise I'd of cleared them out

Yep not much response on this on another page either. Well ive bought the ammo now just need the rifle

a friend looked at the Savage last year, wasn't at all impressed with it, another friend who worked for a shop bought in a 1000 rounds of the ammo for stock, then had to wait a couple of months before he could get a rifle in!
personally not feeling the need for an expensive rimfire round that small CF cartridges like the Hornets can match for performance at a lower per cartridge cost (reloaded)

The 17 rimfire market in the UK is pretty small it has been served by the 17 HMR so the new boy from Winchester will be a niche within a niche.

Availability of guns and ammunition along with the price of ammunition means it has a hill to climb. Good as the 17 rimfires are performance wise their use is restricted to vermin in the main as their velocity is over the top for many range certificates.

A lot of the bunny bashers find them expensive to run, yes they will reach out to those well beyond .22 rimfire range but if 80+% of the targets are within .22 range then is the cost justified on those 80% of costs?

I really like the .17 but shoot a .17 Hornet which I hand load for. With cast bullets it is really cheap and I can reload with velocities for the range or field, in fact for 25 yrd target shooting all I need is a bullet and a primer.

As you have chosen to go with a calibre that has very little history here combined with a paucity of firearms chambered for it, even in the US, and the one that does having mixed reviews at best and hard to get hold off here as well then I suspect that you may be looking at the ammunition for a while.
