ID for this sling please?

Anyone any idea where this originates from and what it should be attached to?
Its 45" long and about 1" wide.
I'm sure the joint of the 2 pieces is not as it should be
It came to me attached to a Moisin Nagant M44 but it's not of a type familiar to me with that rifle

I've seen vintage Yugoslavian AK-47 and SKS carbine slings that look very much like that and also early Bulgarian and Romanian slings are very similar.To be honest though if there are no markings on it I'd say it would be hard to pin down it's exact origin.It would normally have a D-ring with a spring clip at one end to attach to the front sling loop.

Here's a Bulgarian sling with D-ring/clip for comparison.

To be honest it does not look like there has been a D ring fitted ie there are no friction marks to suggest that they have been in place.

I have been over it with a magnifying glass but i can't see any markings

You're asking the wrong question. It's SLINGS = two of. Plural.

The sliding buckle is of interest but need to see the underside for confirmation of origin. Looks Kraut (not to offend any box-heads reading this).
These are Mauser type slings, not even sewn together. Buckle looks German but sling buttons look Swiss or Swedish. The loops are forced together as a very rough central joint. The end loops are an aftermarket bodge job.
Probably a cheap way to carry Grandpas hammer gun for some bunny bashing.
The added loops look quite well done, but a village saddler wouldn't allow that middle "joint" to see daylight!

Maybe contract Mauser type. Portuguese or Turkish, as the leather is plain. Thought it may have been Kraut but no cross hatched leather surface & the underside of the buckle is plain (no teardrop shaped stud like the G98).

Not sure if the military rifle slings page is still around.
Worth a look.
