Dating a 8mm Lebel French Berthier

Hi all,

I picked up my first French Military rifle yesterday.

A Berthier full length rifle mle m16.

I cant find a date on the rifle so was wondering if anybody knew where I can get some information to date the rifle.

Having searched the Internet not much comes up.

I will try and post some pictures when I have the time :)

The date should be written near the back sight.

I thought the date would be on the gun but it is not.

Not sure why I will do some more digging :)
