How easily available is cheap 7.62mm combloc?
Thinking of adding a variation, and as they take 2-3 months may as well add in stuff I might buy in the next 12 months.
Fancy one of those green tins full of ammo, how many rounds to get on ticket to buy a full tin.

Its 700 rounds in a green tin. Haven't bought any in a while, but they're around. I'll have to check my normal supplier to see if any is around, the last batch I bought was some barnual from c&g.BamBam wrote:How easily available is cheap 7.62mm combloc?

Was cheap and available at the last Phoenix arms show, Scott at Caledonian is going to do a batch of 12" VZ58 in 7.62x39 if you fancy a fun rifle in that calibre.

One of Olegs Romanian AKM's would do the jobBamBam wrote:Yes a fun rifle of some sort that will do well at the 100 and 200 range.

"spam cans" contain 700 rounds, two cans to a crate, Hannams and Derek at Simply Ammo usually have it and haven't had any problems sourcing it, same goes for 54r.Nice when you open a can as you get a hiss of vintage Soviet air!.

I'm also after something in 7.62x39 and added it at as my first variation. I asked for 500rnds but they only gave me 400 so spam cans are out which is a shame. Although I was always under the impression that each can held 440rnds? If a can is only 350 then happy days!
Need something to feed mind you. I'm sure straight pull AK's used to be fairly cheap, or when I was looking a couple of years ago, Now they seem to be harder to come by, and not cheap!

I have just sold a Ruger mini 30 in 7.62x39 to a dealer he paid my asking price no issues even paid for the rfd transfer.
I'm now looking to a 7.62mm AKM (straight pull WS-1.63) as I already have a free slot. They have gone up in the last year by about £100.

7.62x39 = 700 rounds
7.62x54r = 440 rounds
5.45x39 = 1080 rounds
Can dimensions are the same for all, only the amount varies so one sized can/crate fits all.
The Romanian AKs as sold buy Oleg are as close as you can get to a Soviet-era AKM as they are manufactured at the RomArm/Cugir Arsenal in Romania on ex-Soviet Russian machines.Slap on some Arctic Birch laminate, an akm slant brake and a Bakelite mag and you've cracked it
