DIngs can be raided using damp and dry brown paper and an iron gently applied over the top, scratches can be hidden with wax crayons of the right colour. You used to be able to buy sets of different brown way sticks for just this purpose for joinery.

As an alternative you could use some furniture stain or vandyke crystals

Hi Douglas

Dings are easy to raise with a damp cloth and a hot iron just keep applying moisture and heat till it moves as much as it will , scratches if they have cut the wood fibre not so good , may mean a fine rub down and refinish the area . A lot depends on the finish if its oil its easy to go over it and build up and match it in .
For matt finish you will need Boiled linseed oil [ BLO ] or a gloss finish tru oil , these will need time to dry between coats , applying with a finger to the affected areas .
If its a light scratch on a varnished finish try T cut and turtle wax .
