hi guys, I was at sevenside range yesterday,the guy next to me was firing off lots of 223 and sprinkling empty cases near my feet, I pick up lots and offered them back to him assuming he was a reloader,he told me to keep them as he did not reload,. they were called ECO,made in germany,anyone ever load these, he left about 80 cases,,be a shame not to use them

Hi col,

It is reloadable boxer primed but the primers are crimped, meaning to reload you need to remove the crimps so new primer can be fitted. Thats a pain when you can get brass without the crimps. Caution not to remove too much from the primer pocket or primers will end up loose. Not good. I gave the Geco brass I had away...

If they are crimped primers I will shamfer the crimp off with a number 6 drill as I have done in the past.Its a tip I picked up I think off this forum a few years back. The drill bit will not enter the crimp pocket,only taking the crimp away..

I just use a case deburring tool, mine is a Lyman.

Sorry to Hijack this thread,
What are your experiences with swaging / deburing the primer crimps. I'm looking at probably needing to do 2000 cases, so looking for a quick reliable method.

I generaly clamp my drilling machine to my bench,slow it down as much as possible and after depriming the cases I gently push the case against a number 6 drill, you can as mentioned above use a deburring tool,as above I use a lyman deburring tool,but personally I think if I had 2000 as you mentioned I would go down the drilling machine avenue. be very wary as to how far into the primer pocket you push the drill,you can easily ruin the case,but by using the number 6 drill is far larger than the pocket and so does not cause any damage.
