Interesting article on Russian/Finnish low velocity rifle cartridges. Just shows how little new there is in the shooting world, the NSRA should do a bit of research before getting their knickers in a twist over range certificate compliant loads and trying to ruin peoples shooting.

Evidently what is now N310 was originally N14 which was made specifically for low velocity rifle rounds.

Their use of wads in bottle neck cases is a bit cavalier and not something I'd try, however lightly misting the top of the powder charge in the case with a solvent like acetone to form a powder position holding "crust" on the powder, seems like a spark of genius but again not something I'd try.

I knew about the low velocity Russian training rounds, later on they used the 123gr M43 7.62x39 bullet loaded in 54r cases for training, but I wasn't aware of the Finnish stuff.......try to keep away from Finns!.

The Russians also used a combination of low velocity/heavy bullet in the VSS Vintorez and AS Val fully suppressed sniper rifles which were designed specifically for relatively close range (max 400m) primarily in urban enviroments.
