Welding - Chainsaw Exhaust

I am the proud owner of a small Echo chainsaw.

There's a catalytic converter that makes the chainsaw underpowered.

I don't want to take the angle grinder to the "muffler" as its only small and I don't believe the local garage would be keen to weld it up afterwards.

Is there anyone on here that would be able to break in half a small chainsaw exhaust, remove the unnecessaries , and weld it together again?
