Peeved by popped primers...

#1 Post by meles meles »

We've just popped nigh on 400 primers out of used cases using our RCBS Rockchucker Supreme and a Lee Universal decapping die. They popped the primers out faultlessly but we are mightily peeved at how many spent primers ignored the ikkle chute and capture trays and jumped onto the bench or floor instead. Anyone got a magic fix for the problem ?

I use a PCAT2, gets 99.9% of them :)

Mine is the left hand one as I also use an Inline Fabrication case ejection system to speed things up considerably when de-priming or sizing cases,

My Lee does it as well, annoying isn't it? Buy a carpet sweeper or put old towel on the floor to catch them!

Which Lee?, I have the Breech Lock Challenger, it catches 99% when I de-prime/re-size on it.

I have a cardboard box below the press just for catching primers.

I don't have that problem I use a arbor press with dies I have made my self for most of my reloading the rest of the time I use a Lyman crusher all the primers end up in the plastic primer collector. That's why I bought it instead of the RCBS jobby. Probably about 30 years ago.

My Lee 1000 does it too, but I've glued a bit of plastic to the side which diverts most of them down the chute.... but a few still end up on the bench.
