Pedretti Hushpower

I need one of these rather unusual shotguns for a pest control task I've been given.

Is there anything to know about these? I'm keen to have a look at one if anyone knows of where there's one for sale.

Edit - Just found the two available on a well known gun selling site - Kent and Worcester are a fair trek from Scotland otherwise would have a look.

I haven't tried a 12g but I have shot a .410 Hushpower and to be honest ive heard people make more noise with a peashooter and it made short work of squirrels.

I used to have a Pedretti shotgun. It was a terrible gun!

I have a Hushpower as made by the Saddlery & Gunroom, a really well exectuted and effective piece of kit.

They are also made on Baikal singles and Mossberg pumps. Id say go for the better quality gun as they are far more saleable on the S/H market than the cheaper versions if you decide you don't need to keep it. S/H prices aren't much less than new!

The reason I was interested in a single barrel was the decibel chart on the website. I thought pedretti may be preferable to Baikal as they have some choke rather than being cylinder.

I was briefly a member of the national mossberg owners club despite never having owned one! So could easily be swayed by their 12g offering.

Needs to be quiet as this would be for shooting near a stables.

Do you need a 12ga? The Mossberg is definitely available in .410 and they may do a 20 bore as well...

I'm keen to just use one size of cartridge in my line up of shotguns, hence not going down the more usual route of looking for one of the smaller cartridge offerings.
The price of subsonic ammo doesn't seem to be any more expensive even though the larger 12g are a lot heavier on components than the 20g/.410.

Yep, I see your point. The .410 with subs is very quiet though. The beauty of the Mossbergs is that you can also get an unmoderated barrel to go with it... Double duty.

I am curious re how the shotgun suppressor copes with the wad / cup etc ?

The one I saw in USA had internal rods to guide the wad along to the exit - otherwise it might remain in the suppressor having expanded etc ?
